Our charity of the year

logo_png_A3
This year we are delighted to be supporting the Eric Liddell Centre, an Edinburgh charity dedicated to inspiring, empowering, and supporting people of all ages, cultures and abilities. The charity was founded in memory of the 1924 Olympic 400m gold medallist, Eric Liddell, who was portrayed in the Oscar award-winning film “Chariots of Fire”. Eric lived close by whilst studying at Edinburgh University in the early 1920’s.

The Centre operates a range of caring services including a day care service, for those with a diagnosis of dementia, a carer befriending service and the Ca(I)re Programme for carers and the people they care for.

Most recently it has launched the Caring Soles community foot care project, which aims to relieve the pressure on local podiatrists by using trained volunteers to check people’s feet.

Based in the Eric Liddell Centre at Holy Corner (formerly Morningside North Parish Church) around 2,000 people visit the Centre each week, simply to use its services, or to participate in an extensive community programm or for coffee or lunch in the vibrant ground floor cafe.
